The Experienced Prosecutor York County Deserves

Tim Barker, our York County District Attorney, began his career with the DA’s Office in 1998 and quickly became an executive prosecutor in 2001.  Prior to becoming District Attorney, Tim served as First Assistant District Attorney, appointed to that position by former York County District Attorney and current Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday.

Tim’s service to York County is extensive.  He is nationally recognized as a trial and appellate prosecutor, litigating many complex and well-known homicide, homicide by vehicle, child abuse, elder abuse, domestic violence, drug delivery resulting in death, terrorism, and economic fraud cases.

A true leader in public safety and victims’ rights, Tim collaborates on many initiatives that reduce crime and increase community wellbeing, including York County Reentry Coalition, York County Mental Health Justice Advisory Committee, York Group Violence Intervention, and York Stable Housing Collaborative.

In addition to his passion as a prosecutor, Tim also is a longtime supporter and volunteer of Republican Party candidates and causes throughout York County.  He currently is serving his second term on the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee, working to elect strong conservatives throughout the Commonwealth.  He serves on CPAC’s Prosecutor and Law Enforcement Advisory Council and helped draft their Conservative Principles of Prosecution, which is a guide for prosecutors and law enforcement leaders across the United States.

Tim earned his bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College and law degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Law.  He lives in Springettsbury Township with Missy, his wife of 25 years, and their three dogs: Mo Mo, Emma, and Solomon.
